♦  Spill Kit in 4 Wheelie bin -  Ideal for large spillage, available from 600 to 1100 liters.
♦  Spill Kit in Savage Drum -  Spill kits in tough container, ideal for Oil & Gas industry, available from 80 to 360 liters.
♦  Spill Kit inWall Mountable Cabinet -  Ideal for Medical industries & Laboratories, available from 80 to 120 liters.
♦  Spill Kit in Truck Mountable Cabinet  -  Suitable for long-hauling takers and trucks, absorbs up to 40 liters.

No, unless specified  -  We have noticed that some suppliers claim their Spill Kits’ Absorbent Pads are heavyweight, but we doubt this claim.  A heavyweight absorbent pad can absorb about 2 liters, therefore, if someone offered a 120 liters Spill Kit with large number of “Heavyweight Absorbent Pads” and other filled products, it is likely that the supplier is either misrepresenting the product or attempting to confuse the customer.  Interested to have a look at “real” heavyweight Absorbent Pads? you are welcome to visit us!

Spill kit configuration is based on where it is used, what purpose, and how it is used.

Situation 1

Most ENPAC Spill Kit contents are specifically configured for use with Salvage Drums to safely transport hazardous liquids.  This configuration includes more Absorbent Socks and fewer Absorbent Pads, allowing users to place the hazardous container in the Salvage Drum and use the Absorbent Socks around it to prevent spillage.  This setup ensures maximum containment and safety, which is why ENPAC kits contain a higher proportion of Absorbent Socks and fewer Absorbent Pads. However, in this region, most Spill Kit suppliers follow this trend due to its overall cost advantage, because it’s cheaper to produce filled products (Socks and Pillows) in Asian countries because of lower labor costs and the ready availability of polypropylene fillers, whereas Absorbent Pads are comparatively more expensive to produce. Consequently, suppliers configure their kits with more filled products, leading end users to buy multiple kits since the most commonly used product, Absorbent Pads, is comparatively less available in these kits.

Situation 2

In the U.S. and Europe, frequent snow and rain create stormy weather conditions that demand comprehensive drainage systems with drainage holes positioned throughout warehouse compounds, worksites, and open yards.  Contaminating these drainage systems with hazardous liquids can result in severe fines and other complications, making it essential to prevent such incidents.  To address this, these regions require more Absorbent Socks to safeguard drainage systems effectively, as a result, Spill Kits in these region are designed with a higher quantity of Absorbent Socks.  In contrast, the Middle East experiences far less rain, resulting in fewer drainage holes around warehouses and worksites.  Consequently, the primary need in this region is for more Absorbent Pads rather than Absorbent Socks, as Absorbent Pads offer a more practical and cost-effective solution for managing spills in the Middle East region, better suited to the climate and infrastructure.

Cheap spill kits often contain extremely thin dimpled or dotted absorbent pads, low-quality absorbent socks and pillows, and unnecessary PPE items. The main consequence is that the end user will need to use more absorbents to clean up a spill, resulting in increased hazardous waste handling costs. The proper spill cleanup process involves using the minimum number of high-quality absorbents that can effectively absorb and retain the liquid. This reduces disposal costs while ensuring the spill is thoroughly cleaned.

To set up an effective Spill Control and Containment Area, first identify spill risks by assessing stored liquids, determining potential spill volume, and identifying high-risk zones.  Use appropriate containment solutions like Spill Pallets, Spill Trays, Containment Berms, Flexible Liners, and Drain Covers to prevent leaks from spreading.  Stock essential Spill Control products, including Spill Kits (oil-only, universal, chemical), Absorbents (Absorbent Booms, Absorbent Pads, Granules – whichever you use more frequent), Salvage / Overpack drums, and PPE (gloves, goggles, respirators).  Store hazardous liquids in FM Approved Safety Cabinets or Steel Pallets, use Secondary Containment for bulk liquid storage, and label all containers properly. Train employees on spill response procedures, conduct regular drills, and ensure they know the locations of Spill Kits, PPE & other relevant accessories.
